Prior to
1992, Tim worked in the public sector in community welfare, mental health
and rehabilitation of the seriously injured. These settings gave Tim exposure
to the areas of sexual, emotional & physical abuse, family conflict,
domestic violence, and grief and loss. Tim also received wide exposure
to the issues individuals with a disability face both institutionally
and within society. He was responsible for integrating individuals with
a psychiatric disability into community settings. Following this employ
with the public service, Tim worked with some of Adelaide's major Psychological
and OH&S consultancy firms as a Manager and Senior Counsellor / Clinical
Consultant.
Tim established
the current practice of D’Accord (SA/NT) Pty Ltd in 1992. His former
counselling work with private individuals and rehabilitation in the organisational
sphere, has extended to include outplacement (career transition), trauma
defusing and recovery, recruitment, business and life coaching and organisational
change management / cultural re-alignment to business objectives.
Tim currently
has 20 years clinical experience with private parties, with 18 of those
years concurrently in organisational consulting. He presently treats private
parties and organisational staff for many types of acute anxieties, phobias
and adjustment issues. He finds it an honour to work alongside individuals
in this capacity and views it as his role to offer an objective, independent
viewpoint which is balanced and forward looking. Tim is interested in
all factors impacting on the health and self-determination (spiritual
domain) of individuals, and practices a holistic approach to issue resolution.
In particular, Tim specialises in the "emotion regulation" system
of individuals, seeking to teach mastery over emotional/physical/physiological
barriers. Tim has particular insight and skills applicable to managing
complex case situations of both an industrial, disability-related and
OH&S nature. Tim in recent years has been involved in organisational
re-structuring / alignment and change. He is an authority on the topics
of emotional intelligence, bullying, stress reduction in the workplace,
performance management and worker’s compensation processes and procedure,
and industrial HR.
Other
particular organisational skills and strengths Tim brings with him are:
• Change management consulting and training - aligning strategic
governance to the practices and procedures that need to occur 'on the
ground'. Orienteering and facilitating staff to make the psychological
adjustment to altered work demands and practices;
• Business coaching and mentoring to managers & supervisors
- e.g. role performance concerns / life balance issues, and the supervision
& performance management of subordinates;
• The capacity to act as an external HR Support / Coach for managers
in relation to personnel and operational issues arising. Advisor on effective
practices to ensure goal accomplishment for self and subordinates;
• Mediation and Dispute Resolution - establishment of formal behavioural
contracts between parties in conflict, investigation of formal grievances
with recommendations; training in relation to 'bullying', statutory OH&S
requirements and the potential responses to minimise conflict in the workplace.
• Consultancy and training in relation to worker's compensation
injuries and best practice approaches;
• The ability to establish and co-ordinate customised Assistance
Programs (EAP) and Critical Incident responses for organisations;
• Career assessment & guidance / outplacement skills to assist
workers and those displaced by down-sizing or injury;
• Skill audits of non-performing workers to determine the causative
social, learning, emotional or psychological barriers to their lack of
performance;
• Team Development / Team Building - Emotional Intelligence / Personality
integration into work teams;
• Leadership Training: Via mentoring and coaching mediums, the professional
development of senior staff to manage challenging situations in today’s
the corporate world, including how to manage physical and human resources
in complex situations arising.
